Recently, I became a director for operations in a community (EAAMO) that brings together researchers and practitioners from over 130 institutions in 50 countries around the world. And the best part is that these people tackle a whole range of problem domains – from inequality, climate and energy questions, civic participation, to data economies.

I’m grateful for every moment of it, from the moment when Ana and Lily welcomed me to the community several years ago, also for the moments I talked to George about ML/LLM challenges, to learning to speak Spanish with Michelle. What makes this community different is the ability to observe an obstacle, understand the context around it, and try to overcome it according to understanding, taste, and circumstances using insights from computer science, social sciences, and humanistic studies

Now is the time for me to call you to contribute to EAAMO'24.

EAAMO'24

The fourth ACM Conference on Equity and Access in Algorithms, Mechanisms, and Optimization (EAAMO'24) will be held from 29 October - 31 October 2024 in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. The host of the conference will be one fantastic guy – Francisco Marmolejo Cossío and I’m certain he will make the conference a memorable experience.

EAAMO'24 will bring together academics and practitioners from diverse disciplines and sectors. The conference will highlight work along the research-to-practice pipeline aimed at improving access to opportunity for historically underserved and disadvantaged communities, as well as mitigating harms concerning inequitable and unsafe outcomes. In particular, we seek contributions from different fields that offer insights into the intersectional design and impacts of algorithms, optimization, and mechanism design with grounding in the social sciences and humanistic studies.

The conference will provide an international forum for presenting research papers, problem pitches, survey and position papers, new datasets, and software demonstrations towards the goal of bridging research and practice. The conference will feature keynote talks, panels, and contributed presentations across numerous fields. In line with the MD4SG core values of bridging research and practice, the conference will bring together researchers, policy-makers, and practitioners in various government and non-government organizations, community organizations, and industry to build multi-disciplinary pipelines.

Consider submitting the paper and hopefully see you in Mexico!
